Stranger Things 5 Reveals How Eddie Munson’s Legacy Will Continue In Season 5

Season 5 of Stranger Things will carry on the story and memory of Eddie Munson. Introduced in Season 4, Eddie (played by Joseph Quinn) was a charismatic but troubled student who had been held back in high school for three years. He led the Hawkins High Dungeons & Dragons club, the Hellfire Club, and was secretly selling drugs. Despite his rebellious nature, Eddie formed a strong bond with Dustin, particularly after being falsely blamed for the death of Chrissy Cunningham, who was actually a victim of Vecna.

When no other options were left, Eddie teamed up with Dustin, Steve, Nancy, and Robin to uncover Vecna’s connection to the Upside Down and try to defeat him. Sadly, Eddie died in the second part of *Stranger Things* Season 4 while trying to distract a swarm of Demobats, allowing the others to escape. His death deeply affected Dustin and left fans wondering how the show would remember him.

X user @UpsideDownScoop recently posted a new image of the Dustin and Eleven figurines from Jazwares, based on the upcoming fifth season of *Stranger Things*.

Dustin’s Hellfire Club shirt is a clear sign that the final season of *Stranger Things* will pay tribute to Eddie Munson’s memory.

The trailer for *Stranger Things* Season 5 suggests Dustin is still mourning Eddie, as a quick scene shows him at Eddie’s graveside.

Someone vandalized Eddie’s grave with the message “Burn in Hell.” This suggests that people in Hawkins still wrongly believe the Hellfire Club was behind the recent murders, continuing a theme from Season 4.

The creators of *Stranger Things*, the Duffer Brothers, recently posted a photo of Dustin wearing a Hellfire Club t-shirt from Season 5 with a message confirming the club will be back: “Important transmission from the set of Stranger Things 5: Hellfire lives!”

I’ve seen a lot of fans speculating that the Duffer Brothers might be hinting at Eddie Munson coming back in Season 5 – maybe through a flashback or even just a vision. It’s definitely one of the big questions we’re all hoping they’ll answer in the final season of *Stranger Things*.

The fifth and final season of *Stranger Things*, created by the Duffer Brothers, will depict the ultimate battle for Hawkins against Vecna and the Upside Down. The season features the show’s main cast, including David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink.

The show will launch with four episodes on November 26, 2025. Three more episodes will be released on Christmas Day, and the final episode will be available on Netflix on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025.

Will Eddie Munson Appear in Some Form in Stranger Things Season 5?

Eddie Munson quickly became a beloved character in Stranger Things Season 4, and it wasn’t just his heroic death that resonated with fans. His charming personality and story as someone who felt like an outcast were major factors. The brief glimpse of his grave in the trailer suggests he might still play a role in the show, even though he’s gone.

Although Eddie is probably dead, Vecna might still use him to target Dustin in Season 5. Dustin remains emotionally vulnerable, and Vecna could exploit that by showing him an illusion of Eddie. This could be Vecna’s way of breaking up the strong connection between the heroes of Hawkins and creating chaos.

Eddie could reappear in the story through Dustin remembering past moments with him. These flashbacks might give Dustin the evidence he needs to prove to the town of Hawkins that Eddie didn’t kill Chrissy.

Because Eddie’s body remains in the Upside Down, the creatures and powers there might use it to help Vecna achieve his goals, which would be devastating for Dustin.
