Steven Spielberg, the famous director, is returning to science fiction with his latest film, coming to cinemas this summer. Following a brief preview of the film’s visuals, new pictures have now been released showing an alien spaceship landing on Earth.
A new movie about an alien invasion—happening while the whole world watches—arrives in theaters on June 12th. With excitement growing for the film, titled Disclosure Day, Entertainment Weekly has shared some new photos. One image shows a UFO coming down towards Earth, giving us the clearest look yet at the aliens. You can see the picture, along with other previews, below.
Josh O’Connor Says Disclosure Day Has That Steven Spielberg Vibe
Josh O’Connor, one of the film’s stars, recently discussed his experience with EW. He explained that the script reminded him of classic sci-fi films like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which initially attracted him to the project. O’Connor also described how being on set quickly confirmed he was working on a true Spielberg film.
I immediately connected with the script because it reminded me of his previous films, and I hope that shows on screen,” O’Connor says. “The set was incredible – a dimly lit, foggy basement with a huge spotlight. It honestly felt like being in a Spielberg movie! There are subtle nods to his signature visual style and past work, which creates a comforting feeling when you watch one of his films, I think.
Will Disclosure Day Measure Up to E.T. and Jaws?
O’Connor hints that Disclosure Day might be as memorable as other iconic Steven Spielberg films. He believes it’s among Spielberg’s best, recalling Emily Blunt recently mentioning the film has a similar quality to those classics. While acknowledging how difficult it is to compare anything to such beloved movies, O’Connor expresses both his and Spielberg’s pride in the finished product.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Koepp (known for Jurassic Park), the film originated from an idea by Spielberg himself. It centers on a man who leaks information (played by O’Connor) and a meteorologist (played by Blunt) as they try to share proof of alien life with the world. The story explores how people would react to undeniable evidence of an alien invasion and the impact it would have on humanity.
The movie also features strong performances from Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Michael Gaston.
Disclosure Day will be released in movie theaters on June 12, 2026.
