Steve Carell and Jenna Fisher, both beloved by fans, recently shared a heartwarming reunion. The moment included a charming nod to a memorable scene from their show, delighting viewers.
According to a recent Instagram post by Fischer, Steve Carell attended one of the last performances of her new play, *Ashland Avenue*. The post features a video of Carell surprising Fischer backstage after the show, and Fischer captioned it with a nod to *The Office* – referencing the Season 3 episode, “Business School,” with the line, “Look who came to my art show.”
Steve Carell and Jenna Fischer, along with the rest of the cast, starred in the popular sitcom *The Office* for its first seven seasons. Carell later made a guest appearance in Season 9. In a Season 3 episode titled “Business School,” Carell’s character, Michael Scott, visits an art gallery showcasing Jenna Fischer’s character, Pam Beesly’s, artwork. While most people openly criticize Pam’s art, calling it low-quality, Michael is immediately drawn to a drawing of the Dunder Mifflin office and enthusiastically buys it to hang in the office.
Just like a famous scene from their show, Steve Carell unexpectedly showed up to support Ed Helms at a performance of “Ashland Avenue” in Chicago. He was joined by his wife, Nancy Carell, who also had a role on *The Office* as Carol Stills, a realtor who briefly dated Michael Scott.
Although *The Office* ended in 2013 after nine seasons and 201 episodes, fans got a chance to experience its humor again. This new series focuses on the employees of *The Toledo Truth Teller*, a struggling local newspaper in Ohio. The staff is being filmed by the same documentary crew that made *The Office*.
The main cast of *The Paper* features Domhnall Gleeson as the new editor-in-chief, Ned Sampson, alongside Sabrina Impacciatore as managing editor Esmerelda Grand. Chelsea Frei plays compositor Mare Pritti, Melvin Gregg is sales representative Detrick Moore, and Ramona Young appears as department staffer Nicole Lee. Oscar Nuñez, known from *The Office*, also returns to his role as Oscar Martinez.
What Do Critics and Audiences Think of The Office’s Follow-Up Series — The Paper?
Since its debut on Peacock in September, *The Paper* has received excellent reviews from both critics and viewers. Currently, Season 1 has an 85% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 98 reviews from verified critics. Viewers also like the show, giving it a 71% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ “Popcornmeter” after over 500 reviews.
The series gained initial traction with dedicated fans of *The Office* even before its release, and star Domhnall Gleeson hinted at filming beginning early next year. Viewers can expect the show to return in the fall of 2026.
Both The Office and The Paper are streaming on Peacock.
