I’m so sorry I couldn’t attend in person today,” the popular TV personality explained. “I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and my Mugato costume just wasn’t complete! But I didn’t want to miss the chance to share some exciting news: I’m thrilled to be joining *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* as the voice of the Digital Dean of Students.”
Stephen Colbert delighted Star Trek fans by quoting a line from the show and sharing his enthusiasm about becoming part of the franchise. He joked that, unlike his fellow actors, he wouldn’t need a lengthy hair and makeup routine. He finished by saying he’s excited for the premiere of Starfleet Academy and wished everyone at the convention well, ending with a playful twist on the famous Star Trek phrase, “Live long… and do your thing.”
The Saturday event not only confirmed Stephen Colbert’s involvement but also revealed the premiere date and first trailer for *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy*. The new series will launch with two episodes on Paramount+ on January 15, 2026, followed by weekly episodes every Thursday, with the season finale airing on March 12.
