Mark Hamill says he has had his time with Star Wars

Mark Hamill has announced he’s finished with Star Wars. At the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, he explained that the new movie, Star Wars: Starfighter, featuring Ryan Gosling, doesn’t need his guidance or help.

Mark Hamill shared his admiration for Ryan Gosling, revealing he’s been a fan since Gosling’s Saturday Night Live days when he played Beavis. Hamill expressed satisfaction with his own work on the series and jokingly suggested he’s the one who should be seeking advice from the current cast, not the other way around. He feels they are all doing incredibly well and that he’s had his time in the spotlight. (via PEOPLE)

I was reading an interview Mark Hamill did with CBS Sunday Morning, and he talked about whether he’d ever play Luke Skywalker again. Honestly, he seemed pretty content with where Luke’s story ended. He basically said they’ve already told all the Luke Skywalker stories they need to, and he feels good about having had his time with the character. He’s happy with how it all went and doesn’t feel like he needs to revisit it, and I totally respect that!

Mark Hamill is most famous for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films over many years. He recently reprised the role in 2022’s The Book of Boba Fett, after returning to the character in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

Shawn Levy, the director of the upcoming Star Wars film, announced that Ryan Gosling will star in the lead role. He clarified that the movie isn’t a prequel or sequel, but instead takes place after the events of Episode 9, following the Battle of Exegol. The film is currently set to be released on May 28, 2027.
