Star Wars Just Unveiled Its Next On-Screen Sibling Duo (Photos)

For a long time, the Star Wars saga has relied on the relationships between siblings to create powerful and moving stories. This was especially true in the original trilogy, and later animated series like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels continued this trend. These shows beautifully explored themes of sacrifice, betrayal, and loyalty, delivering some truly dramatic moments for fans.

The tradition of iconic Star Wars characters continues with two new brothers joining the universe. Lucasfilm has revealed these characters, who will appear in the upcoming Disney+ animated series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. They’re prominently featured in the new poster and trailer, suggesting they’ll be key players as Maul works to rebuild his criminal organization during the rise of the Galactic Empire.

Following the events of The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord centers on the former Sith Lord Maul. The 10-episode series takes place on Janix, a planet the Empire has overlooked, and shows Maul attempting to rebuild a criminal organization. He also takes on Devon Izara, a disheartened Twi’lek Jedi Padawan, as a possible apprentice. The series will debut on Disney+ on April 6th with the first two episodes available.

The show introduces a new brother and sister duo, Scorn and Icarus, who are both Zabrak. The official poster recently revealed they stand on either side of Maul. They’ve also been featured in trailers, and one of them is seen using a rotating blaster.

Both individuals have the typical look of Dathomirian Zabrak: pale red skin, red eyes, and dark tattoos all over their faces and bodies, much like Darth Maul.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve noticed these two characters are definitely working with Maul. We see them fighting alongside him, and in the trailers, they’re right there supporting him when he’s battling opponents. They’re clearly a team!

Star Wars’ Greatest Sibling Pairs

Scorn and Icarus join a series known for its complex sibling relationships, and the most famous example is undoubtedly Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Even people unfamiliar with Star Wars know them as cultural icons.

As shown in Return of the Jedi, the connection between Luke and Leia dramatically changed the story of the entire original Star Wars trilogy. Born and raised separately – Leia as a senator and Luke as a farm boy on Tatooine – they discovered each other through their Force connection before learning they were siblings.

The Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi recently explored the relationship between Obi-Wan and a young Leia years before she and Luke realized their connection.

The series The Acolyte introduced Mae and Osha, twin sisters with a connection to the Force. They were raised by witches but became separated by a terrible event, leading them to live very different lives.

Mae trained to be an assassin, while Osha, once a Jedi Padawan, became a mechanic. When their paths crossed again, the story explored their complicated connection and highlighted how different they were, even though they were sisters who looked alike.

As a fan, it’s always been heartbreaking to think about Maul’s family. He already had such a tragic story before the Shadow Lord comics even started! He had two brothers, Savage Opress and Feral, both born on Dathomir as Nightbrothers and sons of Mother Talzin. Sadly, we didn’t get to know Feral for long – he only showed up briefly in The Clone Wars. Then, Savage, after being changed by Nightsister magic and told to prove himself to Asajj Ventress, ended up killing him. It just adds another layer of pain to Maul’s journey.

Savage and Maul eventually found each other again, and together they caused widespread chaos in the Outer Rim, strengthening Maul’s power. But their partnership was cut short when Darth Sidious killed Savage on Mandalore with a double-bladed lightsaber attack.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the dynamic between Satine and Bo-Katan Kryze. It’s a really compelling sibling rivalry rooted in the Mandalorian culture. They fundamentally disagreed on everything – basically, they had totally different visions for what Mandalore should be, and it put them on opposite sides of a major conflict. It’s one of the more nuanced relationships in the whole saga, in my opinion.

Satine led with a peaceful approach and a new vision for the Mandalorians, but Bo-Katan believed this abandoned their traditional warrior culture. Despite their love for each other, they fundamentally disagreed on what it meant to be Mandalorian. This conflict was a central theme in both The Clone Wars and, much later, The Mandalorian, where Bo-Katan continued to be haunted by the memory of her sister.

The Son and Daughter, unique characters in the Star Wars universe, appeared during the Mortis arc of The Clone Wars. They were ancient Force users representing the light and dark sides, along with their father. Their story was a complex family tragedy: the Daughter gave her life to save her father, who then took his own life to weaken the Son, making him vulnerable to defeat.
