A recently released Star Wars game features a unique new Hutt character named Grakkus, who is fascinated by the Jedi. The game, *Star Wars Beyond Victory*, is an augmented reality playset where players race pods and meet characters from across the Star Wars universe, including the villain Sebulba from *Star Wars Episode I*. During the game, players will encounter Grakkus the Hutt, who surprisingly has a connection to the events of *Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order*.
Grakkus recently appeared in a new Meta Quest video game, and fans were surprised to see he was wearing a necklace made of lightsaber pieces. Each piece actually comes from the game *Fallen Order* developed by Respawn Entertainment.
The latest Hutt crime boss moves around on mechanical, spider-like legs, which is unusual for leaders in his criminal organization. He also has a peculiar hobby: collecting items related to the Jedi, a group of warriors who were, at the time, believed to be extinct.
As a lifelong cinema fan, I’ve always been fascinated by this character’s collecting habit. He’s amassed a huge number of items from the Jedi era – things like holocrons, little statues, and even the remains of some famous Jedi Masters. But what really stands out to me, and shows how much he’s drawn to the Jedi philosophy, is the lightsaber hilt he wears as a necklace. It’s a powerful symbol!
Fans of the video game *Fallen Order* will recognize several lightsaber hilts on display, such as those belonging to Peace and Justice, Cere Junda, and Passion and Strength.
It’s currently unknown if the trophies awarded to Grakkus have any story connection to Cal Kestis, the main character of Star Wars Jedi, or the Jedi series as a whole. However, they clearly appear to be based on the collectible lightsabers featured in Respawn’s 2019 action game.
You can now play Star Wars: Beyond Victory on Meta Quest 3 and 3S. Created by Industrial Light & Magic and Disney, this new mixed reality game features a brand-new Star Wars story centered around the fast-paced sport of podracing. Players will experience the game as Volo Bolus, an up-and-coming racer who learns the ropes from the iconic Sebulba, with Lewis MacLeod reprising his role as the voice of the character.
Is Grakkus the Hutt Connected to the Star Wars Jedi Games?
Recently, we’ve seen more connections between the *Star Wars Jedi* games and other parts of the *Star Wars* universe. First, Cal Kestis appeared in *LEGO Star Wars: Pieces of the Past: Rebuild the Galaxy*, and now Grakkus the Hutt is showing off some collectibles that players can find in the *Jedi* games.
It’s interesting, but right now it feels like a random connection – we haven’t heard anything about this being related to the *Jedi* series. Still, seeing Grakkus with items that look like they’re from *Fallen Order* definitely makes you wonder if there’s more to it.
Grakkus the Hutt first appeared in Star Wars comics as a member of the Hutt family with a fascination for the Jedi. During the time of the Empire, he became known for collecting Jedi relics, so it’s fitting that he owns several lightsaber hilts.
It’s interesting that all these items appear to have belonged to Cal Kestis. By the time of *Beyond Victory* – during the events of the original Star Wars trilogy – it’s possible Cal has either died or gotten rid of his possessions, which is how they ended up with the spider-legged crime boss.
Rumors suggest Respawn Entertainment is developing a third *Star Wars Jedi* game, and fans are hoping it might reveal if the characters Cal and Grakkus ever met.
