Shawn Levy’s new Star Wars film, Starfighter, was already shaping up to be a major event with a fantastic cast. But the director just revealed a surprising secret: Tom Cruise had a hand in making the movie! Set to release in 2027, following the theatrical release of The Mandalorian & Grogu, Starfighter will star Ryan Gosling and take audiences back to the Star Wars galaxy. Fans were excited before, but this news makes the film even more anticipated.
Shawn Levy, director of Starfighter, recently told the New York Times that Tom Cruise helped make the new film a reality. Known for both his acting and dedication to filmmaking, Cruise actually filmed a key scene that’s expected to be a highlight of the movie.
Levy shared that Tom Cruise visited the set of Starfighter simply to watch the filming process. Levy jokingly suggested Cruise try his hand at operating a camera, and to his surprise, Cruise agreed!
Levy shared that Tom Cruise deliberately damaged his expensive shoes while standing in water to get the perfect shot for the new movie. He also mentioned that Steven Spielberg stopped by the set. Spielberg and George Lucas are longtime friends, and Spielberg previously assisted Lucas with the original Star Wars trilogy and Revenge of the Sith.
Steven Spielberg visited last week, and now Tom Cruise is filming something, unfortunately at the expense of his good shoes.

It’s surprising that Tom Cruise showed up on the set of a Star Wars movie and even filmed a scene! But even more interesting is which scene he filmed. Director Levy just revealed that Starfighter will finally feature a lightsaber duel, and Cruise actually shot some of it.
When you watch the movie, you’ll realize some scenes were filmed by Tom – isn’t that amazing?
No one knew what Starfighter was about, and honestly, the mystery continues. But for the first time, we’re learning that lightsabers will be featured in the movie, including a classic Star Wars duel.
Details about Tom Cruise’s role and the specific scene he filmed remain scarce, but it’s been confirmed the lightsaber duel will happen in water. That means when fans watch Starfighter and see a battle taking place on water, they’ll know Tom Cruise was involved in filming at least part of it.
The upcoming Star Wars movie, Starfighter, will star Mia Goth and Matt Smith as the villains. Flynn Gray and Aaron Pierre (from the DC Universe) will also be in the film, along with Amy Adams, who appears to be playing a Jedi.
Is Star Wars: Starfighter Getting Too Hyped Up?

Everyone agrees that Star Wars: Starfighter is set to be a massive hit. It boasts a cast of famous actors and incredible filming work, even including contributions from Tom Cruise. With visits from directors like Steven Spielberg during production, the movie is already generating huge excitement, and we haven’t even seen a trailer yet!
Star Wars, especially its recent movies, has been facing challenges. The sequel trilogy wasn’t well-received by many fans, with The Rise of Skywalker being a major point of criticism. Since then, several planned movies have been announced but ultimately scrapped.
Even before the news about Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg joining the project, there was a lot of excitement surrounding Starfighter because of director Levy and its large cast. Now, with the added news of their involvement, plus the promise of lightsabers, the anticipation has reached a new level.
The next Star Wars film, Starfighter, could be a huge success, and it has a lot of promise. But the current buzz around the movie might be creating unrealistic expectations. If the film doesn’t meet those expectations, fans could end up disappointed, which would be bad for the movie and the franchise overall. Ultimately, everyone wants fans to enjoy the film.
Even though Starfighter looks really promising, it’s best to approach it without overly high expectations. It could turn out to be the best Star Wars film yet, but it also might not – let’s wait and see after it’s released.
