Spider-Verse 3 Confirmed to Feature 6 MCU Actors

The highly anticipated conclusion to the animated Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (also known as Spider-Verse 3), is coming to theaters in 2027. The film will feature a star-studded voice cast, including popular actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beyond the Spider-Verse continues the story of Miles Morales and is packed with beloved characters from the Spider-Man comics.

The upcoming film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, will include six actors who have previously appeared in Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Alongside returning stars from the previous two films like Shameik Moore, Nicolas Cage, and Jake Johnson, several established MCU actors will be featured in important new roles throughout the story. Although they won’t be reprising their Marvel Studios characters, these actors will be key players in the continuation of Sony’s popular Spider-Verse trilogy.

Every MCU Star’s Role in Spider-Verse 3

Hailee Steinfeld

Besides Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy is a key character in the Spider-Verse movies. She took a central role in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will be back for Spider-Verse 3, along with her connection to Miles Morales.

Hailee Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021, playing the character Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. She reprised the role in a post-credits scene for the 2023 film The Marvels, and is widely anticipated to become a key member, potentially a leader, of the Young Avengers team when it forms in future MCU projects.

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac returns as Miguel O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, and a major villain in the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse. As a key member of the Spider Society, Miguel strongly opposes Miles Morales and will continue to pursue him in Spider-Verse 3, believing Miles threatens the stability of the entire multiverse.

Before starring in the Spider-Verse films, Oscar Isaac became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by playing the complex character of Marc Spector – and his alter egos, like Steven Grant – in the Disney+ series Moon Knight. Spector is a former soldier who teams up with Khonshu, the Egyptian Moon God, and becomes his representative on Earth, fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves.

Karan Soni

Karan Soni joined the cast of Across the Spider-Verse and made his voice acting debut as Pavitr Prabhakar, also known as Spider-Man India. Hailing from Earth-50101, this Spider-Man has a strong connection with Gwen Stacy and will return in the next movie to help Miles Morales against threats like Spider-Man 2099.

As a huge Deadpool fan, I was thrilled to see Karan Soni back as Dopinder in Deadpool & Wolverine this year! Even though his part wasn’t huge, it was so fun to see him reconnect with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson. There’s this great little moment where he’s joking about finding lost AirPods in his taxi – it’s classic Dopinder and really made me smile.

Brian Tyree Henry

Brian Tyree Henry portrays Jefferson Davis, Miles Morales’ father and an NYPD officer, in both Spider-Verse films. In the upcoming Spider-Verse 3, Jefferson is set to be promoted to Captain, unaware that his son is Spider-Man, and will face a dangerous situation that puts his life at risk, according to established comic book storylines.

Okay, so I was really excited to see Harry Styles join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Eternals back in 2021. He played Phastos, who’s basically the team’s tech genius. It was a pretty big moment seeing his character share the first same-sex kiss in an MCU movie, and honestly, Phastos was crucial to the plot. He built all the tech they used in the final battle to try and prevent Tiamut from being born – seriously, they wouldn’t have stood a chance without him!

Daniel Kaluuya

Daniel Kaluuya’s character, Hobie Brown—also known as Spider-Punk—adds a rebellious energy to the Spider-Verse movies. Hobie is known for embracing chaos, and he became close to Gwen Stacy while she and Miles Morales were separated. He ultimately leaves the Spider Society after assisting Miles in escaping captivity, as shown in Across the Spider-Verse.

Five years ago, Kaluuya joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the 2018 film Black Panther. He played W’Kabi, a member of the Border Tribe, and was married to Danai Gurira’s character, Okoye. W’Kabi later led his tribe into a civil war against T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, which created significant conflict within Wakanda.

Marvin Jones III

Marvin Jones III, who also goes by Krondon, played Lonnie Lincoln, the villain Tombstone, in Into the Spider-Verse. Though a smaller role, Tombstone is portrayed as Wilson Fisk’s head of security with incredibly tough, nearly invulnerable skin, and possesses great strength and power.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have cast actor Jones III in a groundbreaking role: Lonnie Lincoln, also known as Tombstone. He’ll be appearing in live-action for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this July in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This makes him only the second actor to portray the same character in both animated and live-action films for Sony.

Bonus: Mahershala Ali

As a huge fan of the Spider-Verse movies, I was really intrigued by Mahershala Ali’s character, Aaron Davis, who voiced Miles Morales’ uncle. It was a big reveal in the first film that he was actually the Prowler, and it looked like that story wasn’t quite finished. Across the Spider-Verse hinted at another version of Aaron Davis on Earth-42, and it seems like that Miles Morales actually becomes the Prowler instead. It’s a cool twist and adds another layer to the whole multiverse concept!

Look, I’ve been following Mahershala Ali’s journey with Marvel for nearly seven years now. He was announced as the new Blade way back in July 2019, which was exciting! We only got a quick voice cameo in Eternals in 2021, and honestly, news about his solo Blade movie has been pretty scarce since then. As of today, there’s no official release date, and most insiders are saying we shouldn’t expect it until Phase 7 of the MCU. It’s a project fans are still eager for, but it feels like it’s been stuck in development for a while now.
