While Tom Holland is best known for playing Spider-Man, many consider his strongest acting work to be in a little-seen thriller available on Apple TV.
Tom Holland began his acting journey in 2012 with the film The Impossible, steadily building his career. He gained widespread recognition with his role in Captain America: Civil War, becoming the latest actor to play Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This led to his own Spider-Man films and important parts in the Avengers movies. He’s now preparing to return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Although many people loved his performance as Spider-Man, his best work is actually in a lesser-known series on Apple TV.
Tom Holland Delivered His Career-Best Performance In Apple TV’s The Crowded Room
Tom Holland is so well-known as Spider-Man that people often forget how talented he is in other roles. He recently starred in Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room, where he played a young man with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Throughout the series, Holland skillfully and subtly portrayed the character’s complex and fractured personality, demonstrating his impressive acting ability.
Compared to the action-packed Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Crowded Room focuses more on character and emotional depth. While it’s not without flaws, the show tries to handle its sensitive topics with care and avoids being overly dramatic.
Tom Holland is remarkably skilled at becoming his characters, making small but noticeable changes to his body language and how he speaks. In the Apple TV series, he transforms so completely that he’s almost unnoticeable as the energetic persona he’s known for in Marvel movies.
The show features several scenes that really showcase his acting talent, demonstrating how he can convey Danny’s inner turmoil through expressions and body language, even without speaking. While audiences will likely enjoy his future work, his performance in The Crowded Room is particularly strong and deserves to be recognized.
Holland’s Performance In The Crowded Room Makes His Future Roles More Exciting
Tom Holland often played similar roles throughout his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and many feel this didn’t fully showcase his range as an actor. His recent series, The Crowded Room, finally demonstrates how much he’s grown since he started acting in 2012. It proves Holland is a talented actor with a promising future, both within and beyond the MCU, and is someone audiences should definitely watch out for.
In addition to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland will appear in Christopher Nolan’s new fantasy movie, The Odyssey. He’s been cast as Telemachus, Odysseus’s son, and the role promises to be another chance for him to showcase his acting skills.
As a huge movie fan, I’m really hoping Tom Holland’s work in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey will get more people checking out The Crowded Room on Apple TV+. I think he’s incredibly talented, and I’d love to see him take on even bigger and more interesting roles soon. He’s got so much potential!
