The story picks up after the events of No Way Home, following Doctor Strange’s spell that wiped Peter Parker from everyone’s memory.

The upcoming Brand New Day will give Spider-Man a new direction, focusing on more grounded, street-level adventures. Expect to see characters like the Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) and a shift in tone compared to previous Spider-Man movies in the MCU, potentially leading to more intense and impressive fight sequences.

Destin Daniel Cretton proved his skill with action in Shang-Chi, featuring the most impressive fight sequences the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen yet, and now his new film, Brand New Day, boasts the involvement of Jackie Chan.

Even though Raymond Chan won’t be appearing in Brand New Day, he revealed in 2025 that his stunt team is collaborating with the director on the film. This suggests the movie will feature impressive action sequences.

While many fans love the Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ve still faced some criticism. A common complaint is that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man gets involved in huge, world-threatening events right away, and his battles often depend more on his high-tech equipment than on his actual fighting skills.

How Brand New Day Will Reinvent The MCU’s Spider-Man Franchise

It was smart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to avoid retelling Spider-Man’s origin story, especially since we’d already seen it in the previous films with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. But by doing so, they missed an opportunity to showcase what fans love most about Spider-Man: his ability to connect with and protect people at the local, street level.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has had some great adventures in the MCU, but they’ve also relied heavily on him having a mentor. This has unfortunately prevented him from fully growing into his own as a hero and reaching his full potential.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day offers a fresh start for the character, allowing him to develop both as Peter Parker and as Spider-Man. The story focuses on his life as a neighborhood hero and how he’s coping with being alone after Doctor Strange’s spell isolated him from his friends and family.
