The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to shake up the summer season.
It’s been a while since Tom Holland’s Spider-Man appeared in Marvel movies, ever since the exciting ending of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Because everyone on Earth-616 has forgotten who Peter Parker is, he’s now independent, and fans are eagerly anticipating seeing what his life is like in the next phase of Marvel films, Phase 6.
The new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is almost here! Early reviews are now available online, and the film has earned a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 43 reviews.
| Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Movies | Rotten Tomatoes Scores | Audience Scores |
|---|---|---|
| Spider-Man: Brand New Day | 93% | TBD |
| Spider-Man: No Way Home | 93% | 97% |
| Spider-Man: Homecoming | 92% | 87% |
| Spider-Man: Far From Home | 91% | 95% |
The Rotten Tomatoes score for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still changing. As more critics submit their reviews, the percentage could go up or down in the next few days.
I just read ScreenRant’s review of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Graeme Guttman gave it a solid 7 out of 10. He really highlighted how this new movie, set in 2026, genuinely feels like a classic Spidey flick – you know, Peter investigating crime, being the friendly neighborhood hero everyone loves, and trying to win back those he’s hurt. The review described some great action too; picture Spider-Man smashing through buildings and tumbling into alleys after bouncing off fire escapes! Guttman admitted it wasn’t flawless, but praised how it honors the spirit of the 2002 film while still feeling relevant today. He thinks only Peter Parker could navigate that tricky balance.
Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as the Punisher, bringing the popular anti-hero to the big screen after appearing in several Marvel TV shows, including a dedicated series on Netflix. Following a recent return in the Disney+ special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, he’s now set to team up with Spider-Man in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day story.
Similar to other Spider-Man movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this new film—titled Brand New Day—will include a prominent Avenger: Mark Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. But Spider-Man will face several Marvel villains in the movie, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on Friday, July 31.
