Spider-Man 4 Star Has Hilarious Response to MCU’s Worst-Kept Secret

Mark Ruffalo has a hilarious response to one of the MCU’s worst-kept secrets regarding Spider-Man 4.

The next Spider-Man movie, currently titled Spider-Man 4 or Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is coming to US theaters this summer. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and the film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

What did Mark Ruffalo say about Spider-Man 4?

A new YouTube video from MTV UK features Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth chatting about Tom Holland’s upcoming films. They specifically discuss the next Spider-Man movie and The Odyssey, which Christopher Nolan is directing.

During their conversation, Ruffalo mentioned he’s hoping to attend the premieres of both movies, and then playfully questioned Hemsworth about why neither of them were chosen to be in either film.

There’s some confusion online about a recent Mark Ruffalo quote, with some fans worried he won’t be in the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day. However, Ruffalo was clearly being sarcastic throughout the conversation, and it’s widely known he’ll reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Multiple industry publications reported his casting, and photos of him on the Brand New Day set surfaced online last year.

It’s still unclear if Mark Ruffalo will join Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. The two actors are currently starring together in a new thriller, Crime 101, which will be released in theaters next week.

Spider-Man 4, starring Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando, and Marvin Jones III among others, will be released on July 31, 2026. Another movie, The Odyssey, will come out earlier that month on July 17.
