A Spider-Man 4 rumor suggests a new MCU villain will be getting a comic-accurate costume.

The next Spider-Man movie, currently titled Spider-Man 4 or Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be in US theaters this July. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi, is directing, and Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

What is the new Spider-Man 4 rumor?

Rumors suggest Boomerang, a villain first appearing in Marvel Comics in 1966, could be an enemy Spider-Man will battle in the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the character Boomerang will appear in the upcoming movie, and he’ll be sporting a really impressive, comic book-accurate costume. There hasn’t been an official confirmation or casting announcement yet, but Richtman reports the suit is particularly striking.

Insider Cryptic HD Quality also shared that Boomerang’s suit in the show is reportedly very faithful to the comic book version.

Alongside Holland, the movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln. Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Trammel Tillman are also joining the cast, though their roles are currently secret. Recent reports indicate that Tillman may play a leader at the Department of Damage Control.

There are also rumors circulating that Eman Esfandi, known for his role in Ahsoka, will play MJ’s new boyfriend in the film, and Billy Clements is supposedly taking on the role of a villain called Ramrod. Marvel has not yet confirmed these reports.

Spider-Man 4 arrives on July 31, 2026.
