Comedy Central’s 28th season is continuing to tackle current events with its signature edgy humor. The November 12th episode took this approach even further, building on the trend established in the previous two seasons.
The newest South Park episode, “Sora Not Sorry,” continued the show’s tradition of poking fun at the current president and his administration, including Donald Trump. This time, the storyline became quite explicit, depicting a sexual encounter between Trump and Vice President Vance in the Lincoln Bedroom—and that was just a secondary plot point within the episode. The show didn’t hold back in its satire, even including a bizarre element involving a pregnant Satan.
The central storyline of the South Park episode revolves around the characters accidentally spreading AI-generated fake videos of themselves, which attracts the attention of the police and legal experts. This intersects with a separate plot when security footage of a sexual encounter between Trump and Vance at the White House is leaked and broadcast on Fox News. Trump claims the video is AI-generated, despite it being real, and even lies about it to Satan. The episode concludes with Trump and Vance sharing a kiss.
South Park announced the plot of the recent episode, “Sora Not Sorry,” on Instagram: Butters’ plan to get revenge using AI goes wrong, causing a wave of fake videos at school and confusing Detective Harris. The show’s Instagram also shared photos from the hot tub scene, and fans shared a range of opinions about the new episode.
I’ve been following the conversation, and it’s really blown up! As of right now, there are over 1,100 comments, and people have so many different opinions. It’s awesome to see the excitement – one user, mkiller1022, even said they thought we were ‘doing the Lord’s work’! Another, ascebra, simply called it ‘the best, craziest season ever,’ and honestly, I kind of agree.
While many viewers enjoyed the new episodes, others expressed nostalgia for older seasons of South Park. Some commenters, like chris_rb_fit on Instagram, wondered what happened to the show they used to love, and Gabbanzobean simply stated they missed the classic episodes.
South Park Creators on the Political Nature of Seasons 27 and 28
Before the November 12th episode aired, the creators of South Park discussed the show’s recent focus on politics in an interview with The New York Times. They explained that while they hadn’t originally planned for a political season, it ended up happening because politics had become so ingrained in everyday culture.
Stone described himself and Trey as being strongly drawn to controversial topics, comparing it to “flies to honey.” When asked about the potentially taboo nature of their work, he responded that they were happy to explore those boundaries. Parker clarified that their Trump-spoofing episodes weren’t driven by a political agenda, explaining that the show has always satirized all sides of the political spectrum. “We like to make fun of anyone who’s extreme,” Parker said. “We’ve been doing it for years, and we found the ‘woke’ trend particularly funny. We feel the same way about this.”
A new episode of South Park Season 28 will premiere on Comedy Central on November 26th. It will then be available to stream on Paramount+ the following day.
