Paramount Pictures has announced plans to bring back a beloved franchise in live-action format in 2028. Alongside this, they’ve added a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie and a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to their 2028 schedule. The Sonic film is being billed as a major event within the Sonic universe, hinting at a spinoff or crossover story.
A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in the works, and it means plans for a more mature, R-rated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin film have been put on hold. The studio is now aiming for a tone similar to the successful, family-friendly Sonic the Hedgehog movies. Neal H. Moritz, who produced the Sonic films, is also producing this new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project.
The latest Sonic the Hedgehog movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2028. A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film will be released about a month earlier, on November 17, 2028.
