Someone Wrote Lyrics To The Law And Order Theme Song, And Reid Scott Reacted. Now I Can’t Get It Out Of My Head

I really enjoy catchy theme songs – they help set the mood for the show, and often they’re enjoyable to sing along with. Many classic TV show themes still sound great today, like the one from Law & Order, which is iconic despite having no lyrics. However, things have evolved, and now there are lyrics added to the theme song of a popular drama returning this fall on the 2025 TV schedule. This change has made an impression on actor Reid Scott who stars in it. And ever since I heard it, I can’t stop humming along!

NateDaGreat, a comedic TikTok user, shared a video of himself singing original lyrics to the Law & Order theme song, distinctly different from Seth MacFarlane’s rendition in Ted 2. This video has garnered significant attention, amassing over a million views and even catching NBC’s notice. However, his fame didn’t stop there, as Detective Vincent Riley actor Scott, currently filming Season 23, responded to NateDaGreat’s TikTok on set.

Scott playfully highlighted an inconsistency in the lyrics, noting that the characters on the show were wanted for murder, not for removing tags at the scanner as the lyrics seemed to suggest. This only adds to the humor. The actor further expressed admiration for the lyrics and their creator, likening them to The Weeknd’s style and expressing fandom. Now, I am curious to hear the lyrics for all of the Law & Order shows.

The iconic tune of the “Law & Order” theme song is instantly recognizable, even without lyrics. In fact, its creator, Dick Wolf, uses it as his ringtone – a tidbit Mariska Hargitay discovered last year by accident. It’s one of those timeless themes that you can’t resist humming along to, no matter how many times you hear it. Over the years, people have created viral dances to it, and just recently, Mariska Hargitay and Kelli Giddish were seen dancing to one on TikTok.

Currently, the words only enhance the greatness, yet they seem to lodge the tune persistently in my mind.

In case you missed it on NBC’s TikTok, production for Season 25 of “Law & Order” is underway. While we can’t predict exactly what’s to come, we can expect more murder suspects rather than suspects tampering with scanners. The writers might also draw inspiration from lyrics and vice versa, making the season even more intriguing.

Despite the popularity of viral songs and dances, Law & Order continues to demonstrate its timeless nature, remaining relevant regardless of how many years it’s been broadcast or will continue to be. There appears to be no end to this franchise, and it wouldn’t be shocking if others were inspired to create their own tributes in the form of lyrics.

For now, you can stream “Law & Order” along with its unspoken theme tune by subscribing to Peacock. The series is scheduled to air again on Thursday, September 25th at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.
