Solo Leveling Sets Up Cha Haein to Replace Jinwoo as The New Hero

Cha Haein is a fan-favorite character, and she’s poised to take center stage in the upcoming sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Chapter 66 of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok suggests she’ll become the main heroine. Currently, the story follows Sung Jinwoo’s son, Suho, as he investigates a powerful new Gate that appeared in Seoul, alongside South Korea’s Guild Masters and the Scavenger’s Guild, led by Thomas Andre.

When the Hunters went through the Gate, Suho’s plane crashed, leaving him stranded. While exploring the dungeon on his own, he met a young Ice Elf named Sarca, who has surprising ties to both the story’s villains and Suho’s mother, Cha Haein. Everything suggests that Cha Haein will be the hero of this part of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, possibly even surpassing Jinwoo and Suho in importance.

Cha Haein’s Return in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Makes Her The Ice Elves’ Savior

In chapter 65 of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Sarca tells Sung Suho that someone named “Cha Cha” descended from the sky and saved her tribe of Ice Elf children. This “Cha Cha” is actually Cha Haein, though Suho doesn’t realize that yet. Sarca’s description of Cha Cha is unclear, leading Suho to picture her as a monstrous creature instead of a person. Regardless, it’s now confirmed that Cha Haein is close by in the land of the Snowfolk.

In the latest chapter of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Sarca is ambushed and captured by followers of the Plague and Transfiguration Monarchs while returning to her Ice Elf camp. Since Suho is currently searching for the dungeon’s boss on his own, it’s up to Cha Haein to rescue her.

In the next chapter of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok (Chapter 67), Haein is expected to save Sarca from the Monarchs’ followers. After Sarca tells her about other human Hunters in the Snowfolk territory, Haein will likely go find them, leading to a reunion with Suho. However, her biggest contribution to this storyline might be something even more significant. If the manhwa follows the original light novel even a little bit, this arc will give Haein a chance to truly shine as a central character.

Cha Haein Already Saved The Day in The Light Novel’s Version of The S-Rank Raid Arc

In the light novel Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Cha Haein proves to be the decisive hero during the S-Rank Raid. After Thomas Andre and Sung Suho fail to defeat the Apostle of Itarim, Cha Haein defeats the villain on her own, wielding the Demon King’s Longsword that Jinwoo gifted her.

In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Haein is significantly stronger than she was in the original story. Carrying Suho for nine months caused her body to evolve, becoming powerful enough to potentially house a Ruler or Monarch – and, since Suho is a Monarch, she essentially served as his vessel during her pregnancy. This allowed her to adapt to immense magical power, bringing her strength to the level of a top-tier National Level Hunter, similar to characters like Thomas Andre and Liu Zhigang.

If the manhwa continues to follow the original light novel, Cha Haein is expected to both rescue Sarca from the Monarch successors and ultimately defeat the main villain of the S-Rank Raid arc, establishing herself as the true hero. However, the manhwa has already significantly changed the story from the light novel, and it’s likely to continue doing so. Despite these changes, the manhwa still keeps some key plot points the same, such as Cha Haein initially being trapped among the Snowfolk.

From the moment Cha Haein recovered a stolen purse in an early scene of Solo Leveling, she showed she had the potential to be a hero. While Sung Suho will continue to be the central character in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Cha Haein will take the lead as the hero everyone depends on – at least for the S-Rank Raid Arc and this particular battle.

New installments of the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok comic are released in Korean on KakaoPage every Wednesday. Chapter 67 is expected to be available on December 31st. If you prefer to read it in English, you can find the official translation on Tappytoon and Tapas.
