
While “Sinners” might not win Best Picture at the Oscars this year, it’s achieved something even more unusual.
Since its release in April 2025, Ryan Coogler’s film has been a strong contender for movie of the year, and many consider it one of the best films of 2025. It’s already earned seven Golden Globe nominations, winning two, and boasts impressive scores from critics: 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and 84% on Metacritic.
This morning, the nominations for the 2026 Oscars were announced, and the film Sinners has made history. It received a record-breaking 16 nominations, surpassing the previous record of 14 nominations held by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land.
