In 2026, the Avengers will reunite on the big screen in a new movie called Avengers: Doomsday. This film will bring together heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including both familiar faces and newcomers from The Multiverse Saga. Excitingly, it will also mark the return of the X-Men, who previously appeared in Fox’s films.
Simu Liu recently chatted with ScreenRant about his new movie, In Your Dreams. During the conversation, he was asked to sum up his experience working on Avengers: Endgame in just three words. Liu didn’t hesitate, simply replying, “Dream come true.”
Simu Liu, known for his role as Shang-Chi, explained that it was amazing to work alongside so many actors he’d admired growing up. The news of his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe first came on March 26, 2025, when Marvel Studios unexpectedly announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday.
Simu Liu sees the upcoming Phase 6 movie as a tribute to superhero films. He explained that it’s essentially a fun, affectionate homage to the entire genre, and he believes audiences will enjoy that.
Liu ended by saying the movie is a tribute to anyone who ever felt like an outsider – those who loved comic books and found a sense of hope and belonging in them, even if they didn’t quite fit in. He expressed a deep personal connection to that feeling and the genre as a whole.
Even though Marvel Studios shared a lot of information about the December 2026 movie, president Kevin Feige announced at CinemaCon on April 3, 2025, that they still haven’t announced everyone who’s in the cast. The film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are also directing Avengers: Secret Wars.
The next Marvel movie will be Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing back Tom Holland as Spider-Man after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). It’s currently unclear whether Peter Parker will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Although Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to come out on December 18, 2026, we don’t know yet when the first trailer will be available.
In Your Dreams will be released on Netflix on November 14.
