Recent news about a popular sci-fi show on Apple TV highlights a frustrating pattern in the streaming world that doesn’t seem to be going away.
Apple TV has become a go-to destination for high-quality, cutting-edge science fiction. The positive reception and popularity of shows like Pluribus suggest Apple TV will continue to be a major player in the sci-fi genre for a long time. And fans have even more to look forward to, with exciting new series such as Neuromancer on the way.
Apple TV has been consistently releasing impressive science fiction shows, but recent news about one of its popular series highlights a worrying pattern that needs to be addressed quickly.
Silo Season 3’s Production Update Suggests It Will Be A While Before It Premieres
Steve Zahn, who plays Solo in the series Silo, recently shared in an interview with Collider that filming for season 4 is already underway. This news isn’t entirely unexpected, as seasons 3 and 4 were always planned to be filmed consecutively. However, Zahn also revealed that season 3 is still being edited and hasn’t been fully completed yet.
Season 3 is still being finalized, but it will be released eventually. We don’t have a specific date yet, as it’s a visually complex show with a lot of special effects work.
Apple TV announced back in May that filming for season 3 of Silo was finished. Typically, shows take five to seven months to finish editing and post-production, leading many to believe the new season would arrive in late 2025 or early 2026. But a recent statement from Rebecca Ferguson suggests the release is likely much further off.
Apple TV didn’t include Silo in its preview of shows coming in early 2026, meaning the series won’t be released in the first three months of that year.
Silo’s Slow Production Continues A Concerning TV Trend
Following the conclusion of Silo season 1, it took just over a year for season 2 to premiere on Apple TV+. However, season 3 won’t follow that pattern. Current estimates suggest it might not arrive until late 2026, creating a nearly two-year wait after season 2. Actor Steve Zahn explained that the show is relying heavily on visual effects, which accounts for the longer production timeline.
Shows like Silo thrive on keeping audiences engaged with unexpected twists and compelling mysteries. Delaying a new season can be risky because it might lose that momentum.
Apple TV is known for its excellent science fiction series, but delays in production aren’t new. Fans had to wait a long time for the second season of Severance, and the third season isn’t expected until 2027. This is a growing problem with streaming shows – long gaps between seasons can hurt the show’s momentum and lose viewers.
Fortunately, Silo Season 4 Will Likely Come Out Sooner Than Expected
With filming for Silo season 4 already underway, we can expect it to premiere shortly after season 3. This should keep the story flowing smoothly as Silo moves toward its conclusion in the fourth season. Hopefully, the wait for the Apple TV show’s third season will be rewarding for viewers.
