Shrek 5 Gets First Look at Shrek and Fiona’s Sons

Get a first look at what’s coming in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! Fans spotted a balloon featuring characters from Shrek 5, including Shrek and Fiona’s sons, hinting at the movie’s upcoming release.

A new balloon for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was first spotted in a video on the TODAY show’s YouTube channel. It was being tested on November 1, 2025, and looks like an onion-shaped carriage featuring Donkey and Shrek. Inside the carriage, you can see images of Fiona, Fergus, and Farkle.

This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will include a total of 32 balloons. Joining the parade for the first time will be Shrek and his family, along with Buzz Lightyear, Mario, and Pac-Man.

This year’s parade will feature more than just balloons! Several new floats are joining the festivities, including those from LEGO, Lindor Truffles, Serta, and Pop Mart. Pop Mart is bringing a float with huge versions of their famous Labubu characters.

Okay, so we don’t know much about what Shrek 5 is actually about yet, but I’m so excited because Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all coming back as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona! Plus, Zendaya is joining the cast as Felicia, who’s apparently Shrek and Fiona’s daughter. I can’t wait to see what happens!

The release of Shrek 5 has been postponed twice. It was initially planned for July 1, 2026, then moved to December 23, 2026, and is now expected to arrive on June 30, 2027. Although there’s no official explanation for the delays, some believe it’s to avoid competing with other major film releases, like Avengers: Doomsday.
