With so much casting speculation, a recent Halloween post from Asher Angel, who starred in Shazam!, has fans wondering if he might appear in the developing DC Universe.
The first project under DC’s new direction is called Gods and Monsters, and fans who have been following the DC movies closely are eager to find out which heroes will appear in future films and who will portray them. Even though Angel didn’t dress as Nightwing for Halloween, many fans are hoping to see the character appear in the DC Universe. However, James Gunn, who is currently overseeing a lot of already-planned movies and TV shows, hasn’t suggested it’s a priority.
The wider Batman family wasn’t really explored in the DC Extended Universe movies. We only saw hints of other Robins, like a costume in Batman v Superman and plans for a Batgirl film that were ultimately cancelled. The Titans TV show did feature Dick Grayson, both as Robin and Nightwing, but it wasn’t considered part of the main movie universe.
The initial announcement of DC Universe projects included a film called The Brave and the Bold, planned to be directed by Andy Muschietti. It was originally going to focus on Batman and his son, Damian Wayne, who is also known as Robin. However, James Gunn recently suggested the movie might not emphasize the family dynamic as much. This has led to questions about whether Robin will appear in the film at all.
I’ve always been a fan of Batman’s partners, and I’m excited about the possibility of seeing them included in the new DC Universe. There are lots of options, like different versions of Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, or Huntress.
