Severance Season 3’s “Terrific” Scripts Teased By Star As Apple TV’s Sci-Fi Hit Finally Gears Up To Begin Shooting

A lead actor from the show Severance has shared exciting news: production on the eagerly awaited third season is expected to begin shortly.

The Apple TV+ show Severance quickly became a hit after its debut in 2022, and its second season, released in early 2025, was a massive success. The season finale features Mark S. (played by Adam Scott) making a key decision, essentially choosing to fully embrace his work persona for the foreseeable future. The show has consistently won awards and is now setting high expectations for its third season.

Adam Scott recently shared an update on season 3 of Severance during an interview with Ash Crossan from ScreenRant at a media event during SXSW. He confirmed that filming will begin shortly, saying, “Yeah, we start soon. We start shooting soon.” Britt Lower and Yul Vasquez, also stars of Severance, were also present at SXSW.

I’m so excited for season 3! When asked about the scripts so far, Scott said it’s going to be “great, terrific, and super fun,” and that if you’re a fan of the show, you’re really going to enjoy it. He was pretty tight-lipped about how it stacks up to last season, though. He joked that it’s different because they hadn’t even filmed it yet! It’s good to know they’re keeping some surprises under wraps, and it definitely makes me even more eager to see what they’ve created.

Okay, so last time around, Mark managed to help rescue Gemma, his ‘outie’s’ wife, from Lumon, which was a huge win. But in a really surprising move, he chose to stay on the severed floor – meaning he stayed as his ‘innie’ self – just to be with Helly. While they did manage to take down Mr. Milchick with some clever teamwork, I have a feeling that was just the beginning. Now, these innies are about to face the full force of Lumon trying to regain control, and it’s going to be intense.

Tramell Tillman received significant recognition this past season, winning several awards for his supporting role in the drama series Severance. The show itself has been a major awards contender, earning 41 Emmy nominations and winning 10, and also performing well at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards. Severance successfully moved from its first to second season without losing quality, and now faces the challenge of continuing that success with season 3.

According to Deadline, filming for Severance is expected to resume this summer, and Apple TV has confirmed plans for a fourth season. If everything stays on track, fans can likely expect the show to return in 2027, which would be a two-year wait since the last season—a shorter gap than the three years between seasons one and two.

The show Severance features a talented cast including Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Sarah Bock, and Patricia Arquette, many of whom have received award nominations for their work. Severance has consistently impressed with its writing, directing, production design, and performances, and according to creator Dan Erickson, the upcoming third season promises to be just as strong.

All episodes of Severance are available to stream on Apple TV.
