Send Help just broke a huge 2026 record in its opening weekend.
Sam Raimi’s new horror film, Send Help, has quickly become one of the year’s biggest hits. The movie centers on Linda Liddle, a financial strategist played by Rachel McAdams, and her difficult boss, Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien), who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes.
According to Deadline, the new survival horror film Send Help had a strong opening weekend and is now the third highest-grossing American movie of 2026 worldwide, earning $28.1 million globally. In the US, it brought in $20 million, enough to beat out Iron Lung by Markiplier, which made $21.7 million worldwide.
It’s no surprise the movie is doing so well in theaters, as critics have loved it. Reviews for Send Help have been incredibly positive, particularly highlighting Sam Raimi’s direction and the script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Currently, it holds a 93% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it tied with Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 as his highest-rated film.

The report indicates that the film Send Help helped Disney remain the leader in global box office revenue. Between the November release of Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash in December, Disney successfully maintained its presence in theaters worldwide, and Send Help, released through 20th Century Studios, contributed to this continued success.
The horror film ranked as the third highest-grossing American movie of 2026. It performed better than Mercy, which had a stronger opening weekend than Avatar: Fire and Ash. However, it fell just short of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and was behind Primate, currently the top American movie.
Considering these numbers are just from its opening weekend internationally, Send Help is expected to gain even more attention as it stays in cinemas. The film has already attracted a good global audience, but it needs to maintain this momentum to earn back its $40 million production cost through ticket sales.
Now that Send Help has just come out in theaters, it’s still too early to know if it will attract a larger audience. However, positive reviews and good buzz suggest it will likely remain popular at the box office for at least another week, until bigger movies are released.
