The show has essentially erased almost everything that happened in Season 9, though JD (played by Zach Braff) still experienced the storylines introduced in the controversial Med School episodes. The new season premiere confirms the show is ignoring everything after Season 8. This means the characters and locations introduced in Med School no longer exist within the show’s current storyline. However, the writers didn’t want to completely forget everything from Med School either.

Look, if you were one of the few who actually enjoyed Scrubs Season 9, you can still watch it! But honestly, it’s best to think of those Med School episodes as happening in an alternate universe – a separate storyline that doesn’t really connect to the rest of the show. And let’s be real, given how much fans disliked Med School, that makes total sense creatively. That said, not everything from those episodes was bad. Some of the world-building actually made sense, and the writers didn’t want to completely erase it. So, they kept two storylines involving JD from Med School when they brought the show back for the revival.
