Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott after sitting out Scream VI because of a salary disagreement. Even before the latest Scream movie is released, the creator and director, Kevin Williamson, is hinting at a possible eighth film in the popular horror series.
Kevin Williamson told Deadline at the premiere of Scream 7 on Wednesday that he and Neve Campbell have a promising concept for a future film.
Williamson described brainstorming ideas for future installments while on set late at night. He shared that Neve Campbell had a particularly good suggestion that everyone liked. He confirmed that if the current movie is successful and fans want more, they’re open to continuing the series and delivering what the audience wants.
As a huge Scream fan, I’m already hooked by the plot of Scream 7! Apparently, Sidney Prescott has tried to build a normal life, but of course, a new Ghostface appears and starts terrorizing her daughter. It sounds like she’s forced to confront everything that happened in the past to keep her family safe, and finally put an end to this nightmare. Seriously, can’t a woman just have peace?!
Joining Neve Campbell in Scream 7 will be familiar faces Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Roger L. Jackson. They’re all reprising their roles as Gale Weathers, Mindy Meeks-Martin, Chad Meeks-Martin, and the voice of Ghostface.
Asa Germann, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, and Jimmy Tatro are also starring in the film, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet. Joel McHale will play Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans.
Scream 7 arrives in theaters on Feb. 27.
