Schitt’s Creek Officially Lands The Perfect New Streaming Home After Being Removed From Netflix

After leaving Netflix, the beloved show Schitt’s Creek has found a new streaming home. Originally airing on Canadian television from 2015 to 2020, the sitcom gained a huge following when it became available on Netflix in 2017. It moved to Hulu after leaving Netflix in 2022.

Starting Saturday, February 7th, all six seasons of Schitt’s Creek will be available to stream on HBO Max in the U.S. HBO Max is also creating a special playlist with every episode of the show, making it easy to watch the series from beginning to end.

Schitt’s Creek, created by Eugene and Dan Levy, tells the story of the Rose family, who suddenly find themselves broke after their business manager embezzles their fortune. Once incredibly wealthy, they’re forced to relocate to Schitt’s Creek, a small town they previously bought as a joke, and learn to live a much simpler life.

The beloved show Schitt’s Creek stars Eugene Levy as Johnny Rose, a wealthy video store owner, and Catherine O’Hara as his wife, Moira, a former soap opera actress. Their adult children are played by Dan Levy as the fashionable David and Annie Murphy as the somewhat ditzy Alexis. Rounding out the main cast are Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliot, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reid, Tim Rozon, and Dustin Milligan.

Throughout its six seasons, Schitt’s Creek was highly praised by both critics and viewers, consistently earning around a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was nominated for 19 Emmy Awards and won 15, with the final season receiving a record number of nominations for a comedy series.

In 2019, the final season of Schitt’s Creek made history at the Emmys by winning all seven major awards for a comedy series – a first for any comedy or drama. This included awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing, and Directing, as well as all four acting categories.

Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy won the Lead Actor, Actress, and Supporting Actor/Actress Emmys. This marked a historic achievement for the show, earning the most Emmy wins in a single season for any comedy or drama series.

Shortly after the passing of Catherine O’Hara on January 30th at age 71 from a heart condition, her acclaimed sitcom Schitt’s Creek became available on HBO Max. Fans quickly celebrated her life and work, widely praising her role in the show as her best comedic performance.
