Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson is the first actor confirmed to star in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming reboot of The Exorcist. Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Productions were looking for a major star for the role, and Johansson was a strong contender after her recent work on Jurassic World Rebirth. Coordinating schedules between Flanagan and Johansson, who has also received an Oscar nomination, proved challenging, but the film is expected to be their next project. Flanagan announced Johansson’s casting with the following statement:
