While Sarah Snook is famous for playing Shiv Roy in the popular HBO show Succession, her new film, All Her Fault, is quickly becoming a streaming sensation. It premiered on November 6th and is already gaining a lot of attention.
As of November 9th, “All Her Fault” has become the most popular show on Peacock, according to FlixPatrol. It quickly rose to the top spot, surpassing shows like “Married at First Sight,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “Chicago Fire.” The series follows a mother’s desperate search for her missing son, Milo, and stars Dakota Fanning and Michael Peña. It’s also gaining popularity internationally, currently ranking in the Top 5 in countries like Indonesia and the Philippines, where it’s available on HBO Max.
The series Peacock features Jake Lacey, Daniel Monks, Jay Ellis, and Abby Elliott, and was created by Megan Gallagher, who also brought us Wolf and Suspicion. It’s based on the popular novel All Her Fault by Andrea Mara. Here’s what the series is about, according to an official description:
When a family’s worst fears come true, hidden truths begin to surface, exposing the flaws beneath the Irvines’ picture-perfect life and ultimately destroying it. This series marks a departure from typical thrillers, delving into the terrifying realities of suburban life, the anxieties of parenthood, and how easily a family’s carefully constructed image can crumble.
“All Her Fault” has the potential to spark conversations about motherhood, female friendships, and the challenges women face within the home, as often seen in dramatic TV shows. Similar to “Big Little Lies,” the series centers around mothers in the suburbs who are keeping secrets – from simple lies and competitive feelings to much darker issues like murder. Critics generally liked the show, giving it a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences gave it a 74% rating.
The New Show Provides a Deep Dive into the Assumptions of Being a Woman
In a review of All Her Fault, critic Doll praised the film for its insightful look at the pressures and expectations placed on women, particularly regarding motherhood. She noted that the film expertly explores the complexities of being a woman. Doll also highlighted Jake Lacy’s performance as Marissa’s husband, Peter, noting he believably blames Marissa when their son goes missing, even for a small error.
The show centers around the disappearance of Marissa’s son, Milo, and how it exposes hidden truths about Marissa, her husband Peter, and those around them—including Peter’s sister, Lia, played by Abby Elliot of The Bear. As the family struggles with this crisis, long-held secrets begin to surface, creating tension and suspicion. These secrets aren’t always connected to the disappearance itself, and ultimately work to fracture the family at a time when they’re most fragile, turning everyone into a potential suspect, according to one review.
All Her Fault is streaming on Peacock.
