The new Ready or Not movie follows the same pattern as the first, transforming typical children’s games into dangerous, life-or-death challenges. Stars Kathryn Newton and Samara Weaving both have thoughts on where the series could go next.
Okay, so in the first Ready or Not movie, Grace is basically running for her life when the family picks ‘Hide and Seek.’ It got me thinking, what if they played a different game? I was reading an interview with Samara Weaving (who plays Grace), and she immediately knew what she’d want to see. Her suggestion actually sounds really cool, especially considering how Radio Silence (the directors) like to do things – it would be a seriously messed up, fun game to watch!
“Ding-dong ditch.”
What’s funny is that the game known as “ding-dong ditch” in America has a different name and isn’t as well-known in Australia, where actor Hugo Weaving is from. When someone mentioned “ding-dong ditch,” Weaving was confused and asked what it was. Although the game has a memorable name, Newton playfully suggested it could be even more fun if they pretended it was a ghost doing the running and ringing.
Radio Silence Movies Flip Childlike Innocence Into Something Scarier
I’m a huge fan of Radio Silence – the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – and part of what I love about their movies is how intense and gory they are! Someone actually compared it to the worst possible game of ding-dong ditch – imagine ringing a psychopath’s doorbell! And with a movie like Ready or Not, you think you’re getting a fun, romantic story, and then… well, things get wild.
Fans are excited about potential storylines for future Radio Silence films. One appealing idea would be to show Grace and her sister Faith playing a different scary game, offering a fresh take on the series. The original film hinted at the existence of other games, and it would be interesting to explore those without the life-or-death stakes of the first movie.
The second Ready or Not film was more enjoyable, largely due to the wealthy characters. It would be interesting to see the characters play a game like ding-dong ditch, which could add a fun, new twist to the series.
Grace and Faith run for their lives in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, in theaters now.
