Fans of Taylor Sheridan were surprised in late October to learn about his potential departure from Paramount. However, he won’t be leaving for several years, and he’s just received some good news about his future with the network.
Taylor Sheridan’s success began with the Yellowstone series, but he’s since created several other popular crime dramas. His latest, Landman, released in November 2024, quickly became a hit. Following positive news from a co-creator, Sam Elliott, a new cast member, shared his excitement about the show’s future, saying everyone involved is already eager to get started on Season 3.
Despite the fact that Season 3 isn’t officially happening yet, Elliott has already started planning beyond Season 2. He says they’ve finished working on the current season and he’s enthusiastic about future possibilities.
As a huge fan, it’s amazing to hear how well the show is being received! The creator was saying how the audience is really hyped for what’s coming up, and honestly, he’s even more excited about next season – stuff they haven’t even filmed yet! It’s just great to see that passion and anticipation.
The acclaimed actor shared how much he enjoyed working with the cast and crew, many of whom he’d collaborated with previously on 1883. He especially loved filming in Texas again, and described the Landman set as a positive and enjoyable work environment.
Sam Elliott Also Teased Season 3’s Filming Window
Although Paramount+ hasn’t officially renewed Landman for a third season yet, it’s highly likely to happen. The show has consistently remained popular with viewers throughout the year, even after the first season finished in early January. People kept returning to watch it, which boosted its popularity significantly.
Before it even comes out, Season 2 is getting positive reviews, with a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Of the nine reviews so far, only two were negative, which is the same number as Season 1 received.
The creator and showrunner of Landman recently shared that the show has a lot of potential for future storylines. He explained that the series’ world is expansive and filled with possibilities, and that after only two seasons, they’ve only begun to explore the many stories they want to tell.
As a critic, I was really intrigued when Sam Elliott hinted at a potential Season 3 of Landman. He recently told ExtraTV that filming could begin as early as April or May 2026. It’s clear the cast and crew are already looking ahead! He mentioned they’re essentially finished with Season 2 – considering it setup for the bigger story they want to tell in Season 3 – and are eager to get back to work then. It’s exciting news for fans, and I, for one, am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Landman premieres on Paramount+ on Nov. 16 with new episodes every Sunday.
