Sadie Sink Shares Opinion on Eleven’s Fate in Stranger Things Season 5

Be warned, this article contains spoilers for the final season of Stranger Things! The last episode of Stranger Things aired on Netflix on December 31st, and fans have been discussing what happened to Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. Now, Brown’s co-star, Sadie Sink, has shared her opinion on the matter.

Sadie Sink discussed her character Max’s important scenes from season 5 while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She also addressed the big question of whether Eleven lived after the Upside Down was destroyed, and if Mike Wheeler’s (Finn Wolfhard) idea about what happened is correct.

I’m worried she might be gone, though I’m not sure. I wonder if people will think it’s controversial to say that. It feels like Mike’s story is the last bit of their childhood, a final adventure before they move on. It’s just a way of dealing with things, I guess.

The ending of Stranger Things left fans devastated by Eleven’s apparent death, but Mike’s idea that her sister Kali created an illusion offered a possible escape route. This theory suggests Eleven may have secretly avoided capture by the military.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, hinted that the ultimate fate of the character Eleven remains a closely guarded secret. They revealed that only Millie Bobby Brown and themselves know what happens, and she was specifically asked to not even tell her close friend and co-star, Noah Schnapp.

Ross and I were just discussing this with Millie, but I believe revealing your thought process behind a story diminishes the impact of its conclusion.

The show might have kept Eleven’s future ambiguous to allow for potential storylines as she ventures beyond Hawkins. A spin-off series centering on her is definitely possible, as the creators have already announced plans for at least one spin-off and an animated series on Netflix.

A new Netflix documentary called One Last Chapter, releasing on December 12th, will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the final season of Stranger Things. It promises to reveal what happened with the show’s characters, including Eleven, and share heartfelt goodbyes from the cast and crew.

All seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
