Ryan Reynolds Talks Deadpool Avengers: Doomsday Speculation After Viral Post

Actor Ryan Reynolds, famous for his roles as both Deadpool and Wolverine, has at last spoken up about the Avengers symbol he shared on Instagram nearly a month back. This post quickly gained traction as it suggested the possibility of Deadpool making an appearance in Avengers: Armageddon, due to be released on December 18, 2026.

Ryan Reynolds explains his Avengers logo post

In a chat with Collider, Reynolds clarified during an interview that the viral post he shared had nothing to do with him being in Avengers: Doomsday. Instead, it was just a favorite prop from Deadpool and Wolverine that didn’t end up making it into the final version of the film.

In a social media post, Reynolds shared a design resembling a flag commonly seen in Deadpool and Wolverine movies. He admitted to having a preference for this particular version. Later, while watching another movie with various alternative versions, he found himself questioning his choice, wishing he had picked one of the other five humorous options. He explained that sometimes, inspiration can strike unexpectedly, like when he rediscovered the red and black flag design, which he fondly remembered as his favorite. As for the future of these characters’ world, there are ongoing discussions about what’s next.

Although Reynolds clarified his actions, it wasn’t entirely clear why he chose to share the update now, considering that Doomsday filming is ongoing. Intriguingly, he neither validated nor debunked the whispers regarding Deadpool’s part in the upcoming Avengers film. However, he did hint that they were still brainstorming about what might come next for his character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The upcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is being helmed by the directors of “Avengers: Endgame,” Joe and Anthony Russo. They are working off a script penned by Stephen McFeely. Original Avengers cast members Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth are set to reprise their roles, while there are rumors that Chris Evans might make an appearance as well. In contrast to his previous roles, the actor playing Oppenheimer, will portray Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom this time around. The star-studded cast also includes Tom Hiddleston, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Danny Ramirez. In addition, X-Men legends Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit will also be part of the film.
