While HBO is considering a new television series, fans still love the original cast, particularly after seeing them perform in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. Rupert Grint has also recently shared his thoughts about the popular film series.
Rupert Grint is best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson as part of the iconic trio. He recently discussed with the BBC the chance of reprising his role as Ron, and also shared which Hogwarts House he believes he would be sorted into.
When questioned about potentially reprising his role as Ron Weasley, Grint responded that he wasn’t sure, but left the door open to the possibility, saying, “You never know what the future holds.”
He added that while he really enjoyed his time with it, he’s now happy to be moving on to new things.
When asked if he ever gets tired of being known as Ron Weasley, the actor said he absolutely loves the role. He explained that the story has had a profound impact on many people he’s met, especially those his age and even newer generations discovering it now. He feels a lot of pride in being a part of something so significant.
He admitted, “I don’t think I’ll ever quite step out of its shadow, but I’m fine with that.”
When asked which Hogwarts house he’d belong to, Daniel Grint said he’s likely a Hufflepuff, not a Gryffindor. He explained he’s drawn to Hufflepuff’s atmosphere, though he admits Gryffindor would be a close second choice.
Rupert Grint Reached Out to the New Ron Weasley
Just like Daniel Radcliffe, who recently wrote a letter to the new actor playing Harry Potter, Rupert Grint has done the same. Before filming began on the upcoming reboot, Grint wrote to Alastair Stout, who will be playing Ron Weasley, to offer support and pass the torch, so to speak.
In his letter, he expressed similar sentiments to Radcliffe, simply wishing the new actor well and hoping he enjoys the experience as much as he did. He also acknowledged a connection between himself and the actor taking on the role of Ron.
Grint shared his excitement about the project, saying he appreciates that it’s a fresh start and will be unique. He believes that will make it really enjoyable.
The upcoming Harry Potter series is expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2027.
