
Police have made an arrest related to the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. The family confirmed the Oscar-nominated filmmaker and his wife had passed away.
Nick Reiner, age 32, was arrested late Sunday and booked Monday morning in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. According to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department records, he was booked at 5:04 a.m. Pacific Time on December 15th, with bail set at $4 million. While the Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t commented yet, they have told Deadline that more information will be released soon.
Police found Rob and Michele Reiner dead in their home on Sunday, both having suffered multiple stab wounds. Their son, Nick Reiner, has publicly battled addiction. Rob Reiner’s 2015 film, Being Charlie, explored themes related to Nick’s addiction and was co-written by him. According to Deadline, Nick had recently returned to live with his parents.
The Reiners’ Deaths were Confirmed Last night
Rob and Michele Reiner, who had been married since 1989, passed away on December 14th, their family confirmed. Rob was 78 years old, and Michele was 68. The family released a statement saying they are deeply saddened by the sudden loss and asked for privacy as they grieve.
Rob Reiner first gained recognition in Hollywood as Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the TV show All in the Family, a role for which he won two Emmy Awards. He later became a celebrated director, helming beloved films such as The Princess Bride, This is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men. He even received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for A Few Good Men.
