Rick and Morty’s Comic is Almost All Over

Oni Press surprised many comic book readers with the announcement of a new series they emphasized was *not* meant to be read as a hidden allegory. This came alongside news that the *Rick and Morty* comics might be leaving the company after ten years. However, it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, so there’s still a chance they’ll remain with Oni Press.

Oni Press has announced its comic book plans for January 2026, and the details for the second issue of *Rick and Morty: The End* suggest things are looking grim for Rick and Morty.

What is the solicitation for the next issue of Rick and Morty: The End?

RICK AND MORTY: THE END #2 (of 6)

WRITTEN BY DANIEL KIBBLESMITH

ART BY JARRETT WILLIAMS

COVER A BY DAVE BARDIN

COVER B BY TROY LITTLE

MOST WANTED VARIANT (1:10) BY PHIL MURPHY

VARIANT (1:20) BY TOM FOWLER

The end is near! Writers Daniel Kibblesmith (known for his work on Loki) and Jarrett Williams (Speed Force) are plotting a catastrophic event, and Rick and Morty are completely unprepared for what’s about to happen.

A group of less-than-famous heroes and bounty hunters has teamed up – they’re a pretty awkward bunch, honestly – to track down Rick Sanchez, who’s become the most wanted person ever. The Parmesan Universe put them together after all of Rick’s crazy adventures. Their plan? Send Morty to convince his grandfather to come back peacefully. However, Rick, being Rick, has cleverly hidden inside his own fan fiction – idealized stories written *about* him! This means Morty is about to find Rick in the last place anyone would look: inside his own imagination. And it’s definitely not going to go well!

What storyline did Rick and Morty: The End launch out of?

Daniel Kibblesmith previously wrote a big crossover event for Oni Press featuring Rick and Morty, titled *Rick and Morty Versus the Universe*. Earlier in the series, Rick and Morty had to leave their original universe and move to a nearly identical one. The only difference? Everyone in this new universe pronounces “Parmesan” as “par-mee-zee-an” instead of “par-meh-zh-ahn”.

It turns out Rick and Morty’s old universe – the one they escaped after everyone transformed into horrifying creatures, often called the Cronenberg Universe – decided to get married to the Parmesan Universe. Rick and Morty accidentally crashed the wedding, and now multiple universes are angry with them, which sets up the final conflict.

Rick and Morty: The End #2 is due out on January 7, 2026.
