Bringing Captain Marvel back would also give us a chance to see her team up with Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) again, following their encounter in Phase 4.
In recent events, Shang-Chi and his friend Katy encountered Wong and holographic projections of Hulk and Captain Marvel. They were all trying to figure out the source of a mysterious signal being sent by the ancient Ten Rings. Bringing Captain Marvel and Shang-Chi together could finally solve this mystery in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, resolving a plot point that’s been open for five years.
This Version of Professor X & Magneto Haven’t Been Seen Together Since 2014
Fans are excited about the potential reunion of Magneto and Mystique after twenty years, but it’s also been confirmed that Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto will share screen time again. These two characters first became friends in the 1960s, as shown in X-Men: First Class, though their differing beliefs often caused conflict. They briefly teamed up in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, but haven’t appeared together since.
A version of Professor X appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of the Illuminati, but was killed by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Their on-screen chemistry is fantastic, and both characters are strong additions to the New Avengers team, so audiences will be excited to see them return. While Thunderbolts introduced new aspects of their story, Doomsday has the potential to develop it even further.
The New Avengers will play a major role in Avengers: Doomsday. Fans have already met them as the core Avengers team dealing with the initial crisis, and they’re expected to provide some much-needed humor. Red Guardian, played by Harbour, is particularly funny, and Pugh brings a unique, witty energy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans Will Finally See What Gambit’s Relationship to the X-Men Team Is in the MCU
For nearly twenty years, fans have hoped to see Channing Tatum play Gambit on the big screen. In 2024, that finally happened with a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. A removed scene hinted at Gambit’s return, and it was confirmed last year that Tatum would be in Avengers: Doomsday. This marks the first time Gambit will appear with the X-Men in a live-action movie, adding an exciting new dynamic to the team.
Okay, so we still don’t know if Channing Tatum’s Gambit is from the same universe as the original X-Men movies, but honestly, I’m so hyped to see him team up with guys like Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Beast! He totally showed what he can do in Deadpool & Wolverine – using his powers with those cards to get them out of the Void was amazing. I have a feeling that power is going to be a huge help to the X-Men when they face Doomsday. I can’t wait!
Thor & Loki’s Reunion Will Be Emotional After Their Transformations
It’s been a while since Thor and Loki shared the screen, last appearing together at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame. While the original Loki died fighting Thanos, a version of him – and countless others from across the multiverse – will be back. Thor has also become incredibly powerful in recent films like Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, making their reunion a potentially epic event.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m so excited about what’s coming! I’ve heard rumors that Doctor Doom is going to try and steal Loki’s ability to travel the multiverse to create his own world, Battleworld. This could actually bring Loki back into the main timeline while he’s still trying to avoid whatever trouble the new villain from Downey Jr. is causing. It sounds like Loki might end up teaming up with some seriously powerful characters, and honestly, after seven years, seeing Thor and Loki together again in Doomsday is going to be amazing! I have a feeling they’ll be Doom’s biggest challenge yet.
Mister Fantastic & Doctor Doom Will Meet in the MCU for the First Time in Doomsday
Though they haven’t shared a scene yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will finally showcase the classic rivalry between Mister Fantastic (played by Pedro Pascal) and Doctor Doom. Pascal debuted as Reed Richards, known as the Smartest Man Alive, in 2025’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but he wasn’t present in the post-credits scene. That scene featured a meeting between Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Franklin Richards, setting the stage for the team’s arrival on Earth 616.
Previous movies and TV shows haven’t fully captured these characters, but the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday promises to be the best adaptation yet. It will be fantastic to see Pedro Pascal and Robert Downey Jr. share the screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their rivalry, particularly from the 2015 Secret Wars storyline, is legendary, and it’s great that The Fantastic Four: First Steps hinted at it, with Avengers: Doomsday set to deliver on that promise.
