Though it hasn’t been released in movie theaters yet, the sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is already popular on streaming services, with one caveat to its success on Disney+. The original Ready or Not, starring Samara Weaving, did well in theaters in 2019, earning $57.6 million worldwide on a small $6 million budget.
The film’s popularity led the studio to create a sequel, which is arriving seven years later. In the new installment, Weaving returns as Grace, who must now protect her sister, Faith MacCaullay (played by Newton), from the same terrifying experience she endured – being hunted by her husband’s family of Devil worshipers.
Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come Is Charting On Disney+ With A Special Preview
I’m so excited – Ready or Not 2 is officially out in theaters on March 20th! But get this – even before it hits cinemas, it’s already getting a lot of attention online. It’s trending on Disney+, but it’s actually just a preview of the movie, not the whole thing. Still, it’s a great sign and has me even more hyped!
As of today, data from FlixPatrol shows that the special preview for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is the second most popular title on Disney+ in the United States. It’s also gaining traction in Canada, currently ranking at number 6. The only release ahead of it in the US is Paradise.
Is Ready Or Not 2’s Streaming Success A Good Sign For Its Box Office?
Even though it’s not the complete movie yet, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is performing very well on Disney+. Reaching the #2 spot for most-watched content nationwide shows Disney+ is effectively promoting the sequel, which is great news considering it’s been seven years since the first film.
If early streaming numbers are any indication, this movie could do well in theaters. For example, the 2019 horror film Ready or Not only needed to earn between $12 and $15 million to cover its $6 million production cost. It ultimately grossed $57.6 million worldwide, resulting in a significant profit.
The budget for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come hasn’t been released yet, but it’s probably similar to the original film’s cost. With the success of the first movie, seven years of anticipation, and the recent popular trailer on Disney+, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is expected to perform well in theaters.
