Rachel McAdams’ Send Help Becomes an Instant Global Hit on Hulu and Disney+

The movie, which was a big success in theaters, is now available to stream on Hulu. Starring Rachel McAdams, this thrilling survival story is getting a lot of attention online.

Following its release in theaters and on Disney+, the survival horror film Send Help quickly became a popular streaming hit, according to FlixPatrol. The movie premiered earlier this year to positive reviews and did well at the box office. It continued to gain momentum and is now performing well on streaming platforms.

The movie Send Help became the most popular film on Hulu in the U.S., surpassing The Devil Wears Prada. It also performed extremely well on Disney+, reaching the number one spot in 31 countries.

Okay, so if you loved Send Help on Netflix, you’ll be happy to know it’s doing really well as a rental too! I checked, and it’s currently number three on Amazon’s movie charts here in the U.S., and right behind it at number four on the Apple TV store. Definitely worth checking out if you missed it the first time around!

What Happens in Send Help?

This survival horror movie centers on Linda Liddle, a businesswoman who is denied a promotion that should have been hers when the boss’s son, Bradley Preston, is chosen instead. During a work trip, their plane crashes, leaving Linda and Bradley as the sole survivors stranded on a deserted island.

Okay, so these two people are stranded and have to work together to get by. But it quickly becomes less about survival and more about a really messed up power struggle. Honestly, I didn’t see it coming, but Linda? She’s surprisingly way more capable in this wilderness situation than I expected. It’s fascinating – and a little unsettling – to watch her take charge.

The new horror film, Send Help, is directed by Sam Raimi, known for Drag Me to Hell, and reunites him with actress Alison McAdams, whom he previously worked with on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the screenplay. The film stars McAdams, along with Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner), Edyll Ismail (La Brea), Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), and Dennis Haysbert (24).

Send Help Had Fantastic Reviews

It’s no surprise the movie is doing well on streaming platforms – critics loved it when it came out in theaters earlier this year. It currently has a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews, and audiences agree, giving it an 87% approval rating.

I have to say, this movie really delivers! Director Sam Raimi is on top of his game, and the leads, Rachel McAdams and Daniel O’Brien, give fantastic performances. But it’s the script that truly shines – it’s brilliantly clever and genuinely surprising. And the audience reaction? They’re loving this wild, unpredictable survival horror that manages to be both terrifying and funny. It’s a real rollercoaster ride that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

The movie Send Help cost $40 million to make and earned $94 million worldwide – about 2.4 times its production budget. While most Hollywood films need to earn 2.5 times their cost to become profitable, marketing expenses also play a big role. Send Help barely reached the point of profitability, but its success with online streaming likely helped it get there.

Send Help is streaming on Hulu and Disney+ internationally.
