You have one last weekend to watch Quentin Tarantino’s popular Western on Netflix before it’s gone. Originally a movie released in 2015, it was later divided into four parts and added to Netflix in 2019, but it will soon be removed from the service.
As a huge Tarantino fan, I think this is one of his best. It’s a really unique blend of genres – you’ve got Western vibes, a classic crime thriller feel, a ‘who done it?’ mystery, and it’s all set in a really cool historical period. And the cast? Seriously incredible. Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, and the late, great Michael Madsen – it’s a dream team, easily one of the best he’s ever assembled.
The Hateful Eight Extended Cut Leaves Netflix This Weekend
Quentin Tarantino’s extended version of The Hateful Eight – the 4-part series – will no longer be available on Netflix after Monday, January 26th. This weekend is your last opportunity to watch it, as the original 2015 film will also be removed on that date.
The extended version of The Hateful Eight is about 26 minutes longer than the original movie, bringing the total runtime to roughly 3 hours and 13 minutes. This longer cut is divided into four episodes, each lasting between 50 and 56 minutes. The story itself – about two bounty hunters taking shelter from a blizzard in Wyoming after the Civil War – remains unchanged.
Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight received 3 Academy Award nominations, with Ennio Morricone winning Best Original Score. Morricone was a celebrated composer, famous for his iconic music in classic Westerns like A Fistful of Dollars, Once Upon a Time in the West, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The film is particularly notable for its music and acting, and it’s remarkable that most of the story unfolds within the confines of a single cabin despite its long running time.
Binge The Hateful Eight Series On Netflix Before It’s Gone
Several titles are being removed from Netflix this month, including the popular series Prison Break and the film The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut. If you’re looking for something to watch before they’re gone, The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut is a great choice for a weekend binge.
While The Hateful Eight isn’t likely to rank among Quentin Tarantino’s very best films – he’s created so many great ones over the years – it’s still a passionately made and expertly crafted movie, much like those from directors like Christopher Nolan and David Fincher. The extended cut actually plays better as a four-part series, so be sure to watch it on Netflix before it leaves the platform.
