‘Scarpetta’ Is the Perfect Genre Mash-Up With Major Star Power
The Prime Video thriller Scarpetta, starring Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, centers around a highly skilled forensic pathologist who utilizes cutting-edge technology to crack challenging cases. As she investigates, she faces political interference, personal struggles, and hidden dangers that could jeopardize her investigations. The series draws its story from both the first book, Postmortem, and the 25th installment, Autopsy, in the Kay Scarpetta series.
If you enjoy crime shows with a focus on investigation and a touch of psychological suspense, Scarpetta is a great choice. It’s similar to shows like CSI and True Detective, but with a more stylish presentation. With eight episodes each lasting almost an hour, it’s perfect for a weekend binge – or even watching all in one day if you’re really hooked.
With a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Scarpetta is proving popular with audiences and critics, who’ve described it as everything from wild to a faithful adaptation. A lot of praise is going to the strong connection between Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, who play sisters in the show. As Karina Adelgaard of Heaven of Horror notes:
I was completely surprised by how much I enjoyed the connection between Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. Their chemistry in Scarpetta was fantastic, and the way they played off each other was truly special – it’s the kind of performance you always hope for but rarely get.
Will ‘Scarpetta’ Return for a Second Season?

Amazon Prime Video
If you’ve finished watching the first season of Scarpetta and want to know what happens next, good news! Amazon has renewed the show for a second season, so the story will continue.
Unfortunately, it likely won’t be available until next year, as production just began last week. The second season of Scarpetta will cover the fourth and fifth books in Patricia Cornwell’s series: Cruel and Unusual and The Body Farm.
Stay tuned for updates on Season 2 of Scarpetta, and you can watch all eight episodes of Season 1 now on Prime Video.
