Amazon MGM Studios has announced when its new movie will be released. The film continues the story of a popular series, which itself is inspired by the well-loved character created by Tom Clancy.
Wendell Pierce, a main cast member throughout all four seasons of Jack Ryan, recently revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Jack Ryan movie is scheduled to come out in May 2026. It’s currently unclear if Amazon will release the film in cinemas or directly on Prime Video.
Pierce returns for the latest Jack Ryan film as James Greer, now the CIA’s deputy director after his promotion in season four. He’s joined by returning cast members Michael Kelly as Mike November, a former CIA station chief working as a security contractor, and Betty Gabriel as CIA Director Elizabeth Wright.
John Krasinski Makes His Movie Debut as Jack Ryan
John Krasinski is the last original cast member to return, and he plays a key role as a former U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran who now works as a CIA field operative. He’s the fifth actor to take on the role of Jack Ryan in a movie, following Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.
The film adaptation of Jack Ryan was initially announced in October 2024. Andrew Bernstein, who directed and produced part of the Jack Ryan series, will be directing the movie. The screenplay is by Aaron Rabin, a writer and producer for the fourth season of the series.
Prime Video’s Ryanverse Gets Revived for the Big Screen
Details about the movie’s storyline are still secret. It won’t be based on any of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books, which makes sense given that the TV series only used the characters from the books and created original stories within that world for Jack Ryan.
Joining John Krasinski, Michael Pierce, Dina Kelly, and Wendell Gabriel in the upcoming Jack Ryan film are Sienna Miller, Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge, and JJ Feild. Their roles haven’t been revealed yet, but reports suggest Sienna Miller will play an MI6 agent.
John Krasinski is producing the new Jack Ryan movie with his frequent collaborator, Allyson Seeger. Andrew Form is also producing, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, John Kelly, and Carlton Cuse are executive producers. The film is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Sunday Night Productions, Paramount Pictures, and Skydance Productions.
