Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan features John Krasinski, known from The Office, as the main character – a CIA analyst who unexpectedly finds himself involved in dangerous international missions starting in the first season.

While Jack Ryan’s personal relationships might offer a few unexpected moments, the main storyline will feel familiar if you’ve watched shows like The Recruit, movies such as The Man Who Knew Too Much, or even the Jack Ryan films starring Harrison Ford from the 1990s. It’s a classic spy thriller, complete with all the usual elements of the genre.

While the Bourne films presented a darker, more skeptical view of the CIA, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is characterized by its optimistic and hopeful tone. With a longer format, the series could tell more detailed and realistic stories, staying closer to the intricate political plots Tom Clancy was known for. The older movies, being shorter, often simplified characters into typical heroes or villains. The show, however, had the space to explore more complex motivations and create a more nuanced, twisting storyline.

John Krasinski’s Run As Jack Ryan Is Not Over Yet

Good news for viewers of the Prime Video series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: a spin-off movie is coming to wrap up the show’s storyline after its four seasons conclude. The movie, currently without a title, is scheduled for release in May 2026 and will be directed by Andrew Bernstein.

As a big fan of shows like Ozark and Low Winter Sun, I’ve always admired what Bernstein brings to a project, so I was excited to hear he directed some episodes of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. And now, it sounds like they’re expanding that universe with a spin-off movie! What’s really cool is they’re bringing back Wendell Pierce as James Greer and Michael Kelly as Mike November – alongside John Krasinski, of course, reprising his role as Jack Ryan. It’s great to see familiar faces continuing the story.
