Prime Video Sets Next YA Series As Hit 3-Part Drama Eyes Film Expansion

Prime Video is expanding their world of young adult drama series.

The streaming service is looking for its next popular young adult show, especially since its successful three-part drama is planning to become a movie. With the recent conclusion of Prime Video’s hit series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, in September 2025, the platform is now seeking another romantic drama with a similar feel to fill the void.

According to Deadline, Prime Video is planning to adapt the popular BookTok young adult series, The Boys of Tommen, by Chloe Walsh into a television show. Poppy Cogan will write the scripts for the eight-episode series, which will cover the events of the first two books, Binding 13 and Keeping 13.

Amazon MGM Studios will produce the series, with help from Dramatic Republic, Temple Hill, and wiip. Production is slated to start in late 2026, with a planned release sometime in 2027. This series is expected to be the first part of a larger adaptation, based on a six-book series by Walsh.

The Boys of Tommen tells the story of Johnny Kavanagh, a rugby player, and Shannon Lynch, a quiet student, who both attend Tommen College in Ireland. They fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by hidden struggles: Johnny fears a career-ending injury, and Shannon is dealing with an abusive home life.

Prime Video has found success with its adaptations of young adult novels, most notably with the popular show The Summer I Turned Pretty. Now, a final movie is planned to conclude the story, showing Prime Video’s continued commitment to bringing romantic book series to the screen.

Prime Video isn’t just developing The Boys of Tommen; they also have Fourth Wing in the works, a fantasy series based on Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean books. While Fourth Wing is a big fantasy project, The Boys of Tommen aims to offer a more realistic story, similar in tone to The Summer I Turned Pretty, but set in college.

It’s currently unknown who will star in the show or how the first two books will be adapted into its eight episodes, but Prime Video seems committed to adding more young adult stories to its offerings. If it’s successful, The Boys of Tommen could become another popular hit in the genre for the streaming platform.
