Prime Video Officially Adds ASL & BSL Versions to 18 Movies

Amazon is making its streaming service more accessible to everyone. They’ve announced that 18 more of their original movies will now include closed captions, making them easier to enjoy for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

I was so excited to hear that Prime Video is adding signed versions to even more of its movies! They already had a few, but now 18 more are coming with options for both American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL). It’s really easy to find them too – you can just go to their accessibility page, search using terms like “ASL” or “Sign Language,” or, if you’re in the U.S., look for the “Accessible Movies and TV” collection right on Prime Video. It’s great that they’re making their content more inclusive!

ASL and BSL Movies Are Available on Prime Video

As a film buff, I’m really excited about this new feature! When I watch a title that offers it, an interpreter appears on screen, and it’s not just about translating the words – they show the emotion and feeling of the story through their expressions and movements. It makes the whole experience so much more engaging than just reading captions. What’s really cool is that Amazon is working directly with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community on this – they’re collaborating with Deaf interpreters and artistic sign language directors to make sure the signing is truly expressive and captures the heart of the story.

With the HBO Max add-on, The Last of Us is also available with ASL. Additionally, viewers can purchase Code of Silence from HBO and Britbox, which also includes an ASL version.

Prime Video also offers the most movies and shows with audio description, which narrates what’s happening on screen for people with visual impairments. Plus, it has a Dialogue Boost feature that uses artificial intelligence to make dialogue easier to understand. Originally available only in English, Dialogue Boost now supports French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi as well.
