has added another win to its collection at the box office. The science fiction action film has earned $138.5 million worldwide since its release earlier this month, exceeding the global earnings of Ballerina, the John Wick spinoff, which has made $137.2 million.
Many saw the recent success as a surprising comeback for the Predator franchise, which was largely considered finished before 2022. Starting in the 1980s, the series has earned a total of $581.6 million worldwide. This contrasts with , which is a newer series.
From the beginning, Predator: Badlands looked set to be a major success for the Predator series. It’s already the second highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning less only than The Predator from 2018, which made $160.5 million.
Unlike other films in the John Wick series, Ballerina has earned the least amount of money at the box office. It’s only outperformed the very first John Wick movie from 2014, which made $86 million.
Predator: Badlands Continues to Climb the Box Office Chart
Currently, Predator: Badlands is the 27th highest-grossing movie worldwide for 2025. To move up the chart, it needs to outperform Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the newest installment in the Bridget Jones series. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is just ahead of Predator: Badlands, having earned $140.4 million globally.
Breaking new ground for the Predator series, Predator: Badlands moves the action to the future and off-world. The film focuses on a young Predator named Dek, played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, and his partnership with an android named Thia, portrayed by Elle Fanning, as they hunt seemingly invincible targets. Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the successful Prey, is back as director for this installment.
. Though it has not yet been greenlit, the next film may see .
Producer Ben Rosenblatt said at the premiere of Predator: Badlands that getting Arnold Schwarzenegger back in a Predator movie is their biggest goal. He explained they’ve always hoped to see him return to the franchise, as both he and the Predator series have become iconic.
He explained that Arnold and Dan have met a few times, and Arnold seems genuinely interested in their work. Apparently, he’s a big fan of what they’ve created so far, and they’re very enthusiastic about the possibility of collaborating with him. They’re planning to discuss things further after the release of Predator: Badlands, and they’re hoping they can find a project to work on together – it would be fantastic.
Predator: Badlands is now playing in theaters.
