Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Predator: Badlands and a key figure in revitalizing the Predator series, has signed a significant new agreement with Paramount.
As a big fan of his work, I’m really excited to hear that Matt Reeves’ longtime collaborator, Dan Trachtenberg, just signed a three-year deal with Paramount! Basically, he’s going to be directing, producing, and developing new projects for them, with his usual partner in crime, Ben Rosenblatt, by his side. It’s great to see Paramount recognizing his talent – they gave him his big break back in 2016 with 10 Cloverfield Lane, which I still think is a fantastic, suspenseful movie. Hopefully, this means we’ll be getting a lot more cool stuff from him soon!
In a recent statement, director Trachtenberg shared his enthusiasm about partnering with Paramount. He explained that he grew up loving their movies and always anticipated what would come next after seeing the studio’s logo. He’s thrilled to now contribute to Paramount’s history, calling the collaboration “a dream come true.” Trachtenberg is eager to work alongside the Paramount team.
I grew up watching the Paramount logo and imagining the incredible movies that would follow. It’s a dream come true to now be able to create those kinds of big, moving stories for the big screen. Ben and I are thrilled to work with Dana, Josh, Don, and everyone at Paramount to make the studio a leader in cinema once again.
As a huge fan, I was so excited to hear what Paramount’s leaders, Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, had to say about working with the creator! They really seem to love his work, calling him bold, creative, and someone with a strong, clear vision. They also emphasized how well his stuff connects with audiences, which is amazing and means even bigger things are coming!
Honestly, I’m a huge film fan, and I’ve been following Dan’s work for ages. The guy just gets movies – he consistently makes films that are both bold and genuinely fun to watch. He has this incredible knack for building suspense, creating these massive, immersive worlds, and telling stories that really resonate with people all over the globe. I’m really thrilled he’s joining our studio – I think we’re about to see some amazing things!
This new agreement follows the huge success of Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands. Released in November 2025, the film broke box office records for the Predator franchise, which has been running for over thirty years. It earned $184.5 million globally, exceeding the $177.4 million made by Alien vs. Predator in 2004.
Following his animated film Predator: Killer of Killers on Hulu, the director’s latest movie has become a big success. He initially gained recognition within the Predator series with 2022’s Prey, which many fans praised as a revitalizing addition to the franchise. His work on Prey earned him two Emmy nominations for both directing and writing.
Predator: Badlands will be available to stream on February 12, 2026.
