The opening sequence for has finally been unveiled as part of a surprising behind-the-scenes look.
A new video on the official Pokémon YouTube channel gave fans a first look at how the opening theme song for the upcoming Pokémon games is being made. Even better, the video included snippets of footage that appear to be from the opening cinematic of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, showing off some stunning locations in the new games.
What Fans Can Look Forward to When Pokémon Winds and Waves Arrive Next Year
As a huge Pokémon fan, I was blown away by the behind-the-scenes look at the recording of the new theme for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves! Seeing the NHK Symphony Orchestra put together what’s going to be another instantly classic Pokémon song was amazing. They showed clips from the game alongside the recording, and it looks gorgeous – think beautiful beach towns, tall buildings right by the ocean, stunning islands, and incredible underwater scenes packed with all the Pokémon we love!
It wasn’t long ago that the first trailer for the newest Pokémon games – the tenth generation – was released. The trailer revealed that these upcoming games will take place across many islands and underwater locations, giving players almost limitless chances to explore.
The trailer revealed the new Starter Pokémon: Browt, a Grass-type resembling a bean sprout; Pombom, an adorable Fire-type puppy; and Gecqua, a remarkably smart Water-type. While all three look promising, fans quickly picked a favorite.
A recent April poll showed which of the tenth-generation Starter Pokémon were the most popular. Pombom won with 43.4% of the 1,140 votes, followed by Gecqua at 34.6%. Growt came in last place with just 22.1% of the votes, totaling 252 votes.
Although fans have to wait another year for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, there are still several new Pokémon games to enjoy. Currently, the most popular is Pokémon Pokopia, which launched in March to great reviews and has been a huge hit with players.
The game takes place in a ruined Kanto region, almost completely empty after a disaster. Players work to restore the land by fixing up locations and attracting Pokémon to return, gradually bringing life back to the area.
Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are currently slated to be released some time in 2027.
