Everyone’s been calling Pluribus the best sci-fi show of 2025, and it looks like it’s going to last longer than just one season. From the very first episode, it was clear the show was a winner, but no one anticipated how quickly the post-apocalyptic comedy would become such a huge hit after only a week.

After its release, Pluribus received a lot of positive attention, which helped more people discover the science fiction series. While fans of Vince Gilligan’s previous shows – Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul – were likely already aware of it, critics and audiences hadn’t fully recognized its potential before it premiered.

The new show Pluribus quickly became a hit, proving itself to be as good as the popular series Severance. Apple TV renewed it for a second season almost immediately, and the show went on to break streaming records and gain a large following. Season 1 took over a year and a half to air after filming wrapped – it began filming in February 2024 and premiered in November 2025.

According to a likely schedule for Pluribus season 2 (reported by Forbes), if filming starts in spring 2026, new episodes probably won’t be available until late 2027 or early 2028. Although it seems logical to start season 2 soon after season 1, Pluribus requires a lot of editing and finishing work, meaning fans will likely have to wait a long time for the next installments.

Despite the long wait, Pluribus season 2 is expected to be excellent. While two years between seasons might seem like a long time, it’s typical for Apple TV+ shows. For example, even the popular show Severance had a significant gap between its first and second seasons, airing in 2022 and 2025.

The Major Players Are Expected To Remain Intact

It’s still unclear which characters from Pluribus will be back for season 2, but some key players are likely to return. Manousos Oviedo (Carlos-Manuel Vesga) just arrived in the United States near the end of season 1, so his story isn’t finished. Also, Zosia (Karolina Wydra) is starting to take on a more significant role than just being a supervisor.

Carol & The Others Have A Long Way To Go

The first season did a great job of developing the show’s core story, but many questions remain in Pluribus for future seasons. The discovery that the Others survive by consuming a protein derived from humans could create even more tension, and we might start to see disagreements within their unified consciousness.

Zosia and Carol’s connection in season one, episode eight, suggests Zosia will keep evolving and might eventually leave the Others. This also hints at the bigger purpose behind Carol’s work. While investigating the virus in Pluribus, Carol couldn’t find a definitive answer about whether the Joining process could be undone, even though it initially appeared irreversible.

I’m really excited about the possibilities for season two! With Manousos joining the team, I predict Carol will come back with a much stronger focus, finally making real progress in her search for a cure. Beyond that, I’m hoping we’ll see the virus expand beyond our current setting, maybe even jump to other planets. I’m also curious to see Carol actually write that book she’s been talking about, and, of course, how everyone deals with the fallout from the Others’ stem cell procedures. It feels like there’s a lot of potential here!

As a huge fan of Pluribus, I’m really excited for season 2! I’m not sure if it’ll pick up right where things left off, or if they’re going to throw in a bunch of new storylines, but either way, I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing and totally worth the wait.
